so this essentially is part 3 of this whole paradigm shift since this year started.
yesterday i talked about seminary; today is about my new job.
so i catch this flu that puts me out literally for like a whole week and as soon as im somewhat able to crawl about, im scheduled for this 3-day training for my new job.
and this whole thing with a job...
somehow, its so weird because after becoming christian for whatever reason, i cant seem to hold on to a job for more than a year...before that, i was consistently on this 3-year rotation 3 times. since becoming christian, my last 3 jobs im averaging roughly 6 months. and somehow the job situation is not as plentiful as in tokyo and since july of last year, ive been looking for a job that would give me the best hourly pay while giving me the flexibility of studying during the day. and with the collapse of the biggest english conversation schools in japan, there has been a flood of teachers looking for jobs in this already saturated market. and so here i was.
and so finally after sending my resumes to various places, i landed this job and i knew that this was it so i wasnt going to pass up this opportunity.
and so the 3 days were over followed by a 4th day of on-site training and work started the 5th day which was last saturday. i worked for 3 days and here i am finally on a break and it feels great!!!
im so so thankful for this job.
we'll see how long i say that...but the people are really nice, they have a really good system and its very professional. AND they're all, or at least mostly non-christian. its actually really really refreshing.
the first job that i had as a christian was doing real estate so that was a bit odd because everyone that worked there was just so materialistic and money driven. it was quite to the extreme. and then i was in a christian environment but...well...it wasnt what i expected...and here i am.
a couple interesting things already happened and im sure therell be more to come:
so last week after trainings all done, one of the guys i was in training with was like, so you wanna grab a beer?, which was a totally legit question but it totally threw me off guard...at first i forgot that they wouldnt be christian so i thought why would you want to grab a beer?, then i thought, oh yeah, you guys do that...or funny, i used to do that...then this other guy asked me what i do on my off days and i told him i go to school and he asked me what i study and i told him theology and he asked me what kind of theology...hmm...never knew there were different kinds so i told him biblical theology...and then i thought that i guess you can have theology of a different god but it just never occurred to me.
so anyway, theres a valentines party at the office this saturday so hopefully i can put up some pics.
i know ive been writing a lot recently on my blog. in the past ive been posting a lot of pics and not really writing but let me know if this is working...or not...
anyway, grace and peace
